To use this feature, check the box titled "Remember me next time" during the login process.  For more information on logging in, see "Logging In" above.

Your user credentials, that is, the combination of your user name and password, are stored in a cookie on the local hard drive of the computer you used when you checked the "Remember me..." checkbox.  Because of this, your web browser must be configured to accept cookies or the feature will not work.  It is also very important to remember:

NEVER USE THIS FEATURE ON A PUBLIC OR SHARED ACCESS COMPUTER!

Saving your credentials on a computer that other people have access to would allow those other people to login to your account and perform requests on your behalf.  You are responsible for activity performed using your account.

Using any "Log Out" button (on the login page, at the top of each page, or anywhere else) will cause the cookie containing your credentials to be cleared.  Do not use the "Log Out" feature if you want the website to remember you; instead, simply close your browser when you are finished.

To clear the cookie containing your credentials and tell the website to stop remembering you, click "Log Out" at the top of any page or at https://secure.microplastics.com/login2.aspx.

Online Catalog

Browsing the Catalog

There are now two ways to browse the online catalog, you can use either the Pictorial Catalog or the Full Catalog.

The pictorial catalog, found at https://secure.microplastics.com/catalogpictorial.aspx, uses the familiar layout of a page with product family names and images that each link to a page with the names and images of the categories found within the selected family.  Clicking a category link takes you to the details page for that category.

The full catalog, found at https://secure.microplastics.com/catalogfull.aspx, is a single page that allows you to choose the desired product family and category from dropdown lists.  This method is preferrable when you are familiar with our product offerings and would like to browse through several categories or families.

Searching the Catalog

There are four main ways to search the catalog:  by part number, by description, by dimension, or by cross reference number.

To search by part number, enter the full or partial part number in the box titled "Search by Micro Part Number" and then click the associated "Search" button.  All part numbers that contain the text you entered will be returned, organized by family and category.

To search by description, enter a single keyword in the box titled "Search by Micro Description" and then click the associated "Search" button.  All part numbers whose description contains the text you entered will be returned, organized by family and category.  Please note that we are currently working to improve our part descriptions.

To search by dimension, first select the dimension most critical to your application from the dropdown box titled "Select a Dimension".  Next enter the value or values to search for in the two boxes titled "Search for Values Between" and then click the associated "Search" button.  All part numbers that have a dimensional value between the values you supplied on the dimension you selected will be returned, organized by family and category.

To search by cross reference number, enter the full or partial part number in the box titled "Search by Cross Reference Part Number" and then click the associated "Search" button.  All part numbers that are crossed to numbers containing the text you entered will be returned, organized by family and category.

To further refine any of your searches you can sort the results and/or filter them by any displayed value.  For more information, see Sorting & Filtering Results below.

Sorting & Filtering Results

The information about parts in a given category can be sorted and filtered to assist in finding the item you need.  Sorting also allows you to view the items according to the dimensional data of your choice.  For instance, you may prefer to see washers sorted by ID, Length, and then OD.

For a single column sort, click the name of the column in the red header of the item detail list.  This will sort the column in acending order.  To sort the column in decending order, click the column name again.

To sort by multiple columns, click the "Advanced Sort" link.  This will display the advanced sort options to the left of the detail list.  Select the column to sort by, and the sort direction, from the dropdown boxes and then click the "Add" button to add that column to the sort order list.  Use the "Up" and "Down" buttons to change the order in which the columns are sorted.  Select an item in the list and click the "Remove" button to remove that column from the sort order list.  Click "Advanced Sort" again to hide the advanced sort options.

To filter the list, select a column name from the dropdown box titled "Filter List" and enter a value to filter on in the text box.  Click the "Apply" button to apply the filter and the "Clear" button to remove it.  When a filter is applied, only items that contain the text you entered in the chosen column will be displayed.

Additional Item Detail Options

In addition to sorting and filtering the item detail list, you can also specify the number of items shown per page and the style of the page navigation controls.

By default the item detail list will display 10 items per page.  To change this ammount, select a different value from the dropdown box titled "Display".

The default page navigation style is by page number.  To navigate to the next page of items, click the page number at the bottom of the detail list.  To change the navigation style to "Next" and "Previous" buttons, select "Next/Previous" from the dropdown box titled "Navigate".

Customer Tools

The Shopping Cart

The shopping cart, or "Cart", is the starting point for all shopping activity.  There are three different carts available:  Samples, Orders, and Price & Delivery.

At the top of the catalog detail page is a dropdown box titled "Select the cart to view".  Use this dropdown to select the cart you want to work with.  When you click the "Add" button in any detail list, the associated item is added to the cart specified in the "Select the cart to view" dropdown.

The "View Cart" page allows you to review the items in your cart(s), change quantities, update line item comments, remove existing items, or manually add new ones.  To submit a cart, select the appropriate cart from the dropdown box and click the submit button at the bottom of the page.  The text of the submit button changes based on the current cart; for sample requests the button is titled "Request Samples", for online ordering it says "Ceckout", and for price and delivery it says "Get Results".  Clicking this button will start the appropriate submittal process for the selected cart.

There are four main areas on the "View Cart" page.  At the top you'll find the dropdown for selecting the cart you want to work with as well as controls for selecting or deleting your saved carts.

Next is "The Current Cart Contains" box that displays all of the items added to the cart so far.  Each item in the cart displays the item number, description, and includes boxes for the quantity and comment.  At the far right, each item has links to "Update" or "Delete".  When you change the quantity or comment, you must click the "Update" button on each item that you change.

Beneath the list of items is the "Add More Items to the Cart" box.  This area allows you to manually add items to the cart by typing in the item number.  If you are ordering non-standard colors or custom parts you will have to enter them manually here.  After entering the item number, quantity, and optionally a comment, click the "Add" button to add the item to the cart.  For packaged parts, the quantity will round up to the next even multiple of the package size.  For instance, if you request 2,400 pieces of a part that is packaged 1000 peices per package, the quantity will be rounded to 3000.

The "Additional Cart Options" box contains any options that relate to the current cart.  Select your desired options before submitting the cart.

Finally, the controls at the bottom contain the appropriate submit button, a "Clear Cart" button for removing all items from the cart, and the "Save Cart As" button along with a textbox for entering the cart name.  For more information on saving a cart, see Saved Carts below.

If there are no items in the selected cart, only the "Add More Items to the Cart" box is displayed.

Saved Carts

The "Saved Carts" feature serves two purposes.  First, if you have items that you frequently order or request price and delivery on, you can save them in a cart so that you can quickly load the items any time you need.  Second, if you want to copy the contents of one cart to another you can save the cart, select a different cart, and then load the contents.

To save a cart, type the name you'd like to use in the textbox next to the "Save Cart As" button.  After entering the cart name, click the "Save Cart As" button.  If you want to update the contents of an existing cart, type the name of the existing cart and click "Save Cart As".  A message will be displayed warning that the cart name already exists.  Click "Save Cart As" again to overwrite the existing cart.

To load a cart, select the cart name from the dropdown box titled "Saved Carts:" and click the "Load" button.  Click the "Delete" button to delete the saved cart shown in the dropdown box.

To get price and delivery, first log into the website.  After loggin in, point to "CATALOG" on the menu and then select "PRICE & DELIVERY" from the pop-out menu.  This will take you to the "View Cart" page with the price and delivery cart selected.  Use the "Add More Items to the Cart" section to add the items you would like to get price and delivery information on.

You can also add items to the price and delivery cart by browsing the catalog, selecting "Price & Delivery" from the "Current Cart" dropdown, and then clicking the "Add" button next to the item you would like price and delivery information on.

After you have added all of the items you would like price and delivery information on, you can select how you want the results to be displayed.  In the "Additional Cart Options" section you can choose to see your results as "Verbose" or "Concise".  Verbose results will be returned in a written format with one paragraph per item number.  The concise results will be returned in a tabular format.

In addition to the results options, there is also a check box titled "Return All Additional Price Breaks".  Check this box to see the quantity and price of all avaliable price breaks beyond the requested quantity.  To see all available price breaks, be sure the quantity of the line item is set at the minimum, which is typically 1000 pieces.

When you have finished adding items to the cart and have selected your result options, click the "Get Results" button at the bottom of the "View Cart" page.

Verify that all of line item information is accurate.  You may then use the order options to specify that the order should ship complete, or that it should be reviewed by a customer service agent prior to being confirmed.

If you check the "Ship Complete" checkbox then all line items will ship on or before the latest lead-time shown, otherwise each line will ship as it becomes available (default).

By default, your order will be entered and confirmed automatically when you press submit.  However, you may choose the "Have a customer service agent review my order" option to have your order entered without confirming.  An agent will then review the order and make any necessary changes.  Select this option if you have entered special instructions in the comments for a particular line item.  Note that this option will delay processing of your order.
